Trademark Registration in RAK Filing Requirements
- A duly notarized & legalized power of Attorney up to the Consulate of the UAE. In case of late submission, the power of Attorney (POA) is applicable within 60 days as from the filing date.
- Twenty prints of the trademark. (Size: 6 cm x 6 cm)
- If priority is claimed, a certified copy of the home/foreign application registration.
Once a trademark application is submitted, it is examined by the authorities. After a Trademark application is accepted by the Registrar it will be published in the Trademark Journal as well as in one or two local daily Arabic newspapers. The cuttings of the notices issued are to be submitted to the Trademark Office. In 30 days from the date of any publication interested party may file a notice of opposition to the registration of trademark. The Registrar’s decision concerning the opposition may be appealed to the Committee and the Committee’s decision to the competent court. In case of the absence of an opposition, a trademark is registered and the related certificate of registration is issued to the applicant.
Trademark Registration in RAK Renewal of trademark
A trademark registration is valid up to 10 years from the filing date of the application and is renewable for similar periods. The renewal fees of a trademark registration can be paid in the final year of the registered period. Also a grace period of three months is acceptable for late renewal of trademark with a fine. The renewal of a trademark is also published in the Trademark Journal and also in two local daily Arabic newspapers.
